Hannah’s current project, From Appalachian Folk, is an exploration of storytelling, folk art and spirituality in Appalachia— a journey of reclaiming her own Appalachian roots and shared identity for the sake of healing. This work weaves stories of her family with those from the wider region, winding curiously into the ancestral patterns we hold collectively.

Hannah was born to the Appalachian region in Madison County, Kentucky. Her family moved out of Appalachia by a couple of hours when she was six years old so she did most of her growing up in Oldham County. She now resides in the Piedmont area of North Carolina, a bit east of the Appalachian line. From these edges she has come to see how deeply her Appalachian ancestors held the value of community, of art, and of land. She hopes this storytelling work will forge a path we might travel together.
